PLANT CAPTURE / ONE PROCESS BAY

From capture
to drawing.

Explore one area. Find the gap. See what a follow-up changes.

The first view leaves a branch hidden.

PLAN THE FOLLOW-UP

See the branch.
Check the remaining work.

An extra view can reveal the branch. Its identity, drawing position and missing reading still need checking.

COUNT THE COMPLETE JOB

Compare every stage
of the survey.

Compare sample estimates across 13 work stages, from intake through delivery and return visits.

These are sample costs. Set your own scope, rates and quality checks in the worksheet.

YOUR CAPTURE PLAN

A drawing that leads to the right inspection point

Methods to compare

    Checks to agree

      Take into the pilot

Planning basis: COLMAP’s reconstruction workflow, NavVis’s approach to accuracy verification and Transport Canada’s flight planning guidance. Check site access and any flight permissions before scheduling capture.

        CHOOSE THE DRAWING YOU NEED

        Match the output
        to the inspection task.

        Visual site record

Useful for orientation and finding source views. Missing regions and capture dates need to stay visible.

        Inspection-location drawing

Useful for returning to the intended inspection point. Asset identity, location, revision and completeness require their own checks.

        Dimensioned model

Useful for specified measurement tasks after controls and independent checks establish an acceptable result.

        Process or engineering drawing

Requires the process relationships, design information and professional review appropriate to its purpose. Visible surfaces alone do not provide that record.

Budget for the work after capture.

Reconstruction, identification, drawing edits and review all affect the result. Compare the technology path and the complete cost of first and repeat work before choosing a capture method.
